Hello, my name is Phillipa and I am an illiustrator from Rolleston, New Zealand. Creating cute illustrations and fantasy art is my passion. My journey began with a pen and a blank little white page. As time went on, doodling evolved into drawing, pen found companions like paint brushes and assorted pencils, and the page was replaced by canvas. The shapes on the papers also became more emotive, animated...alive! I knew this was something I wanted to do.My interest in wildlife and birds in particular inspired me to become a veterinarian. A doctor in the morning , an artist in the evening. I decided to study graphic design and take this whole thing a bit more seriously. Digital drawing became an obsession and I have since worked on children's books and created art for surface design. I mostly do comic books and fantasy art these days, oh and greeting cards! Most of my work is done in my own time but I also offer tuition, check out the learn tab to find out more on that!
Email me your questions, curiosities, or musings at [email protected].Or, check my socials down below! Thanks
I love tutoring and seeing people progress. It brings me great joy to see my pupils succeed! I specialise in cute characters and fantasy illustrations in a children's book style. I am also currently working on a comic. If this sounds like something you would like to learn then please email me to book your spot: [email protected]
HOW IT WORKS
Firstly, at this time I am only teaching adults. My availability for in person tutoring is currently Thursdays only. In the new year, 2026, I plan to open up some evening spots if there is interest. So flick me an email if evenings work better for you.The second step is to get an idea of where you are in your art journey by corresponding with you and seeing some of your artwork. After this, I will make a plan for our sessions. One option is to work on a project together. You can bring something you are already working on or if there is something you want to make we can work on that. Working on projects is a fun way to learn as you focus just on that and have something really awesome by the end of it. If you are a beginner and haven’t drawn before then focusing on some fundamentals first is a good idea. We can still make it fun by drawing the things you are interested in.Lastly, please bring your own standalone device (ie iPad and apple pencil) or laptop and drawing tablet to draw with. I am familiar with most drawing apps so it doesn't matter which one you choose. I am happy to give you advice on which one might suit your art style.
